This past month we met a teenage girl named Sofia at the market. She was with her 9 month old baby and was asking for some food and diapers. We purchased what she needed and proceeded to share the gospel with her. She was dressed in full Muslim attire so we could only see her eyes. We asked if she wanted to receive Christ and she said yes! She ripped off her face covering and we led her in prayer. Because the area where we live is predominantly Muslim, there were several onlookers shaking their heads in disapproval. However, that didn’t stop the Holy Spirit from moving mightily! We exchanged phone numbers and met with her and her adoptive mom the following day. We were able to talk to them in depth about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. They wanted to commit their lives to Jesus so we asked if they wanted to get baptized and they agreed! We baptized them and they invited us into their home to pray for their family. We sat down with them and met the adoptive dad (Ali), who is a Muslim, and began to share the gospel with him. They also have 5 other children who they had been raising in the traditions of Islam. He seemed resistant at first but you could see the Holy Spirit tugging at his heart. We prayed for them and left them with a couple of bibles. A couple days later, we received a call from Ali saying he wanted to surrender his life to Jesus! We drove to their house and spent several hours with their family going through the scriptures, praying, and worshiping Jesus together. He decided that he wanted to be baptized, so we drove to the beach and baptized him and his oldest son as well! We are excited to see how the Holy Spirit continues to move in their lives as we continue to meet with them and build each other up in the Lord! Praise Jesus for His mercy and grace!
