One Sunday in May

Written by Jim & Twyla Taylor

Sunday found our team in the Mieze Church, worshiping and praying with the locals. The building was pretty full by the time things were going. Most of the Africans here have no watches or clocks, most have no transportation other than walking, and life often brings many things that slow down meeting. Some of the men, women, and families who attend the Mieze church walk quite a long distance to get here... and are happy to be there! They kneel on the concrete floors and cry out to Papa God with an intensity that is quite amazing.
The preaching is in two languages and sometimes three, so sermons can take awhile. If a clock does not order your life, time loses its control of you.
The children have a vital part in the church and almost all of them participate in some way. Today, some of the teenagers were helping lead worship. Foreigners are not commonly seen in the churches away from Pemba, so at times we are a bit of a distraction. The children love to come sit with us though, often the really young ones are afraid of the white skin. Two little girls made quick friendship with Twyla during the church service.
It's always exciting to see and hear what Papa God is doing in the lives of these, who are laying down everything and giving him an opportunity to do something radically new in them.
Bless you all! Thank you so much for loving the poor... for praying with us for Papa God's Kingdom to come here in Mozambique as it is in heaven!
