During Easter, I have been reflecting again on the greatest of sacrifices this world has ever known: the sacrifice of the King of kings for our salvation! He gave it all, and died an horrific death that we might have life and be called the sons of God! What an incredible thing, there are no words to describe what Jesus has done for us!
This sacrifice that He gave is the gospel! It is what we preach. It is the message that is meant for the whole world to hear, and it is our privilege and great delight to lay down our own lives for the sake of the gospel and to share it with as many people as we can before we go home to Him!
This is why the Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 2:1-5:
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
He determined only to know the gospel of Jesus Christ, and relied completely on the power of God to demonstrate that gospel. What an example for us to follow!
We have been on many outreaches, to many unreached villages in Northern Mozambique. It is our mission and passion to see the gospel preached in every village so that all would hear and know that Jesus Christ is King! The Lord is constantly moving powerfully, demonstrating the preaching of the gospel with miracles, signs and wonders. It is His delight to pour out His love in a tangible way to those who have never heard before!
One of the most beautiful memories I have is of a mama who came to me once, carrying her two year old son. I sat with her in the dirt as she explained to me that her son had never walked before because his legs were bowed and his spine crooked. She asked me if I had any medicine. I looked her in the eyes and told her that, no, I didn’t have any medicine, but what I did have, I would freely give! Then I held out my arms, and she handed her son over to me. I sat him in my lap, and held him for a while, just loving him with the love of the Father. I asked my loving Father to heal him, and I felt such a sweet presence of Holy Spirit fall on us. Then I stood him up on the ground a little distance from his mama, and pointed at his mama, telling him to “Go to mama!” And he did! He RAN! Completely unaided, laughing the whole way! I laughed with him, tears in my eyes as I looked over to mama and saw the most shocked look on her face! He jumped into her arms and she held him, completely at a loss for words! Gently, I pried the boy out of his mama’s arms, and set him down a short distance from her again. Again, he ran to her! We played that game over and over, and soon enough, mama was laughing too! She excitedly told me that he had never even been able to stand by himself before! When I shared the message of Jesus to her after that, she readily accepted, not because of any clever words I might have shared, but because of the overwhelming power of the most loving Father this world will ever know!
The gospel is so easy to share, and the most incredible, delightful thing to ever be a part of! What a joy to watch as someone comes running into the arms of their Father! What an overwhelming joy to feel the Father’s delight as He receives a new son who was lost to Him, but now has been brought home! That is the work of the gospel!
We truly have laid down everything for the sake of the gospel. We have made ourselves bondservants of Christ and His gospel: the story of His death and resurrection for all mankind to be saved. We are not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God to salvation for all those who believe, and we delight in standing on the rooftops and proclaiming for all to hear!
We all who follow Jesus are carriers of His light! Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven! I urge you, Christians everywhere, to go out into the darkness and be the light that this world so desperately needs right now! Deep darkness is covering the earth, but we will shine even brighter in the face of that darkness! Arise, church of God, and shine for Him!
I have included a video showing some of our outreaches and the work we do for the sake of the gospel in Northern North Mozambique. May it inspire you to be carriers of His love to those around YOU who need to be filled with Him!
I pray for you all, beloved of God, that you are filled and blessed exceedingly, abundantly above all you could ever ask or imagine as you pursue Jesus in this life!
