Some weeks ago we went to a village 3/4 hours from us to encourage the brothers and share the Gospel to their families and neighbors. They have a small house church, and some people had been visiting, but many hadn’t decide yet to follow Jesus alone. We only spent the weekend, but so many things happened!
We finished our service on Sunday praying for people. A mom brought her 6-year-old boy, saying he couldn't speak properly, just some words like mom and dad. As we started praying quietly, the boy closed his eyes tightly and it seemed he was being touched by Holy Spirit. When we finished the prayer, he gave us a huge smile and our translator asked him to say a word. He immediately repeated it – he was so excited and even surprised with himself! We started testing him more, different and long words, and talking about Jesus; then the mom asked some other words too and he was just able to do everything without effort. The mom left right after to her friends to share the good news.
We also met a girl who had apparent mental issues. She was not able to speak properly and, though the mom was taking her to witchdoctors, the girl loves to go to the house church. One of the local believers has been praying for her, and she was now able to say some short words, with some effort. The girl accepted Jesus and the mom apparently agreed to stop going to the witchdoctors and following idols, and, after that, we started noticing longer and more words. At some point, I felt to explain her that she can pray, even if she is not able to say words, because Jesus understands her heart. Suddenly her face lighten up and she said: “now I understand!” We were all surprised with the long sentence – and she was so encouraged!
